Viewers use different browsers, devices, and connection speeds. Adaptive streaming lets a video player change quality as those conditions change.

The Skiv player uses HLS and DASH streams to select a bitrate supported by the viewer's device and connection. Viewers can also choose a resolution such as 1080p or 4K when it is available.

When you upload a video, Skiv transcodes it into multiple formats and resolutions. The player switches between those versions during playback.
